Forest Edge Raceway nr Andover Hampshire 14th/15th July 2012 round 5, finals 9&10 of the 16 round UK National Championship

Supporting The Alzheimer's Society 2012 - Forest Edge Raceway points score 222, so total to date = 1143 = £285.75 pledged so far.

Forest Edge rained throughout most of Saturday practice but was dry on Sunday morning so 32 drivers lined up for timed qualifying in the Light Weight class with no proper dry practice, this was a tall order for Conset Kart as Jim Rainbird had never been to the circuit before, most other had tested and raced there prior.

Conset Kart qualified 17th overall .. more than 0.6 of second from pole, so not a good start to the day and that is very much how it continued .. 16th in race one, 12th in the first final.

The second final from grid 12 was problematic, having to take evasive action to miss a spinning kart on lap one, dropping back to 23rd and with clutch failing and slipping it was a hard slog back to finish 18th.

This poor result has dropped Conset Kart to 10th in the championship, hopefully the next rounds near Daventry 10th/11th/12th August will prove to be more successful.

Opinion: Not a great venue by modern day standards, dangerous kerbs and run off area to forget!
